Transnational Production and Cosmopolitan Networks
“World cinema” is becoming an increasingly popular term. It has been embraced by film festivals; it is used in film marketing; and it has recently emerged as a prominent topic of debate among scholars investigating the crossings of national, subnational and transnational film industries and cultures in the age of globalisation.
World Cinemas: Transnational Production and Cosmopolitan Networks is a seminar series organised with the support of the Melbourne Research Grant Scheme and co-hosted by the School of Culture and Communication. It brings together a number of international and local experts, who will discuss the transnational forces animating contemporary film production, the cosmopolitan networks formed and cultivated in various film cultures, and the challenges that these transformations pose to contemporary film scholarship.
