Media and Communications: Our research strengths
Media and Communications at the University of Melbourne is the interdisciplinary study of media grounded in the interactions of critical and empirical traditions of investigation. Our core interests are in professional practice (and reflection on it), policy, theory and global media. We have research strengths in political communication, Asian and Australian media, media technologies, journalism studies, professional writing and rhetoric, gender and postcolonial studies, media arts and the history and philosophy of media and communications. Our work combines social science and humanities approaches, empirical and theoretical studies, and the range of professional, amateur, industrial and creative practice.
