Media and Communications: Postgraduate coursework student profiles

David Engel

David Engel

2nd Year Master of Arts (Global Media Communication)

"I chose to do my masters at Melbourne University after studying abroad for a year here as an undergraduate exchange student from the US. Knowing what a wonderful place Melbourne was to study and live, I couldn't wait to come back.

I came into Global Media Communication with a background in international and gender politics.

The open, multidisciplinary approach to media and communication allows students to engage with the wide array of material in a fun, interactive and enlightening manner.

I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in gaining a greater understanding of the most pressing contemporary issues facing not only the fields of media and communication, but of global politics, sociology, and cultural studies as well."

Master of Arts (Global Media Communication)

"As a student from Germany I chose to study at the University of Melbourne because the program looked the most impressive and some of the great advantages about studying here are the atmosphere, location and prestige.

I am writing a thesis on the perception of history through new media, using the example of 9/11. My aim is to connect media and history and raise issues regarding the concepts of truth, perception and representation."
