The Eugenie La Gerche Scholarship

A scholarship for Honours, Postgraduate Diploma and Research Postgraduate Art History students

About the benefactor

Eugenie La Gerche, graduate of The University of Melbourne and generous benefactor, made available the Scholarship bearing her name to assist deserving Art History students particularly those experiencing financial hardship. Eugenie La Gerche graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Melbourne in the 1930s and subsequently edited Farrago. Eugenie later took up watercolour painting, exhibiting in The Atheneum Gallery in 1957. Eugenie was also a benefactor to the Faculty of Science and, with her husband, founded the Hugh and Eugenie Johnston Scholarship for medical students.

Potential candidates

The Eugenie La Gerche Scholarship will be awarded to needy and deserving Fourth Year Honours and Postgraduate Art History student/s demonstrating potential for up to $5,000 (five thousand dollars) or part thereof. Special consideration will be given to students experiencing financial hardship. The scholarship will normally be used to support a research project or comparable activity.
