About the School of Culture and Communication
The School of Culture and Communication was formed at the beginning of 2007 from a number of different disciplines. It comprises the following areas of study:

- Australian Indigenous Studies
- Creative Arts
- Creative Writing
- Cultural Management (Art Curatorship, Arts Management, Cinema Management)
- Cultural Studies
- English
- Media & Communications
- Publishing and Communications
- Screen (Cinema) Studies
- Theatre Studies
The School of Culture and Communication maintains a strong commitment to disciplinary innovation together with a focus on rigorous research into all dimensions of culture and communication. We aim to build a teaching environment that is at once exciting, challenging, and fully supportive of our students.
The core skills that we teach can be transferred to many areas of life. These include:
- the ability to think and write creatively
- skills in the close reading of literary and cultural texts
- a broad-based knowledge of the history of cultural forms
- a capacity to communicate elegantly, rigorously, and with a sense of audience
