About the School of Culture and Communication

The School of Culture and Communication was formed at the beginning of 2007 from a number of different disciplines. It comprises the following areas of study:


The School of Culture and Communication maintains a strong commitment to disciplinary innovation together with a focus on rigorous research into all dimensions of culture and communication. We aim to build a teaching environment that is at once exciting, challenging, and fully supportive of our students. The core skills that we teach can be transferred to many areas of life. These include:

  • the ability to think and write creatively
  • skills in the close reading of literary and cultural texts
  • a broad-based knowledge of the history of cultural forms
  • a capacity to communicate elegantly, rigorously, and with a sense of audience
